The Optimum Bearing For Your Electric Motor
Whether standard electric motor or highly specialized electric drive - deep groove ball bearings are often the most suitable type of rolling bearing. With over 100 years of experience in deep groove ball bearings, Schaeffler is the ideal supplier and development partner for all types of electric motors.
In addition to all rolling bearing types commonly used in electric motors, such as deep groove ball bearings, cylindrical roller bearings, angular contact ball bearings, spindle bearings and spherical roller thrust bearings, service products for relubrication and Condition Monitoring round off the Schaeffler product portfolio.
Application Solutions
Electric motors are found in almost all industries and are required for a wide variety of tasks. The large number of applications also means that electric motors have to meet a wide range of requirements. With our wide-ranging product portfolio, we can help you meet your challenges.
Application solutions for the four most important areas of application of electric motors are shown below.

X-life is the seal of quality for particularly high-performance products of the INA and FAG brands. X-life products are characterized by longer life and service life - the result of higher dynamic load ratings than the previous standard. They thus open up completely new design possibilities and make a significant contribution to improving the overall cost-effectiveness of the application. The reasons for this increase in performance are state-of-the-art manufacturing techniques and improved internal designs. This leads to better and more uniform surfaces and contact areas and thus to optimized load distribution in the bearing. The better surfaces result in parallel advantages in friction and thus in temperature development and lubricant stress. In addition to the usual standard versions, we always have stocks of our popular 62.. and 63.. series lubricated-for-life ball bearings with 2Z non-contact-shielded seals, L069 or L207 high-temperature grease and C3 radial clearance.

Engineering Tools
During the design of an electric motor, the electrical design, calculation of the shaft strength and selection of the right bearing are of particular importance. As a bearing manufacturer, we have long-term experience in selecting the right bearing and calculating its service life. To support you, we offer various online design tools so that you can carry out the bearing selection yourself in many cases.
During the concept phase, usually only a little data is available for the calculation of the Rolling Bearings, such as the speed and roughly estimated bearing forces. In order to be able to carry out a simple individual bearing calculation with this information, Schaeffler offers the option of starting a calculation directly for the selected product. This tool can be used to quickly and easily determine whether the selected bearing is roughly suitable for the requirements.
Once the design of the electric motor is largely complete, a detailed recalculation of the Rolling Bearings should be carried out on a system basis to ensure that the intended bearings will achieve the required rating life. You can carry out this calculation step-by-step with our free Bearinx-online Easy Emaschine programme. The programme is intuitively designed so that no training is necessary apart from basic knowledge of rolling bearings.
Furthermore, you will find a Bearing Frequency Calculator (rollover frequencies), a Bearing Selection Assistant, medias interchange, a Grease Selection Tool and the Heating Manager in our Engineering Tools, which will support you during mounting.
