Technical information on Tapered roller bearings
Tapered roller bearings are particularly suitable where:
- high radial loads occur
- high axial loads act on one side
- combined loads must be supported (radial and axial forces acting simultaneously)
- precise axial guidance of the shaft is required (locating bearing function)
- the bearing arrangement must have very high axial rigidity
- the bearing position is operated clearance-free or under preload (single bearings are adjusted against each other)
- high running accuracy is required
- the load carrying capacity of angular contact ball bearings is no longer sufficient and the higher speed suitability of angular contact ball bearings is not required
- the bearings are not required to compensate misalignments
- the design objective comprises compact, rigid and economical bearing arrangements with a high load carrying capacity
